Tell us about your favourite food memory from your childhood...

Saturday evenings in front of The Pink Panther cartoon whilst eating a hot crusty roll with tinned corned beef and English mustard in it!

What would your advice be to someone who is new to cooking and is looking to put more love into the ritual of preparing food at home?

Start off with really simple and easy to do recipes. Pasta dishes or rice based dishes, ones with not many ingredients, and fall in love with the process as opposed to the end result

Tell us about one of your cooking rituals at home... 

Every Sunday I’ll make something, probably having done all of the prep work the night before, as in the morning we leave quite early as Acey my son, has rugby training. There is nothing better than getting back into the house and there is a smell of slow roast meat or a braised stew.

What’s your favourite thing about having friends and family round for dinner?

Noise, conversation, kids running around. The way that the table becomes the focal point, it isn’t even about the food that is on it

Tell us about one of the most memorable meals someone important in your life has cooked for you...

When I was 20 years old, I ate at Marco Pierre White’s The Restaurant, 3 Michelin Star. Mind-blowingly beautiful food, in an amazing setting. The great man himself walked through the room with an air of genius that sits with me and is ingrained in my memory forever. An incredibly important moment in my career as it helped set the wheels in motion of how exciting this world can be and reinforcing my belief that this is the most magical space in the world

You have friends coming round for an impromptu dinner, what do you cook? I don’t, we get a take away!

Your proudest career moment to date: The team’s achievement of winning 2 Michelin stars in 2012.

Best place for a tasty dinner in your local area: Obviously if it isn’t my own, a big fan of Atul Kochhar Vaasu

Favourite winter lunch: Homemade hearty soup

What's your winter drink of choice: Anything spicy and warming, and always non-alcoholic

The ingredient you’re most looking forward to incorporating into your dishes this season: Vanilla in rice pudding
