Elévation du côte du pignon (Gable Elevation) Print

£335.00

This drawing is taken from a series of plans and elevations for a townhouse in Clichy, France.

This work came from the collection of Ralph Holland (1912-2012) a Courtauld-trained art historian who taught at Newcastle University and was a well known collector of old-master drawings, several of which he bequeathed to the British Museum.

Little is known about the maker of the drawing, but we loved the crisp, clean lines and calming symmetry, typical of the Louis XVI style of that period.

The original drawing was made using black ink, and grey and black washes on paper.
