Each of our Artichokes is a true labour of love, with every single leaf cast in the finest earthenware and applied painstakingly to the bowl by hand like a crown. The process isn’t unlike eating one of the precious vegetables in reverse – and the results are just as delectable. We like them because they remind us of the garden at Villa Bologna, which is bursting with fruit and veg.

About Villa Bologna Pottery

Founded in 1924, Villa Bologna is one of the oldest ceramic workshops on the Mediterranean island of Malta.

Villa Bologna Pottery has been producing ceramics for almost 100 years and over the decades has created many iconic pieces, such as the Glug-Glug Jug and Pineapple lamp. Every piece of earthenware produced is cast, finished and painted by hand. With a rich archive of Mediterranean design spanning the last century, and carefully honed production techniques, Villa Bologna produces elegant designs and motifs.
