Las Primas

Kenya uses her work to celebrate Black women and Black culture by placing both motifs as central to her artwork. Kenya explores her Caribbean heritage using bold colours and themes such as nature, dancing and movement. She is influenced by Brazilian folk art, naïve art and 70’s fashion. Each character in Kenya’s work has their own unique story, which is open to interpretation by the viewer. But she loves when individuals see themselves in her paintings. She also hopes that people feel a sense of warmth and joy from her work.
