Soft Pastel on Paper

Halima's drawings explore abstract forms and spatial constructions that are almost evocative of landscapes and consider the nature of haptic connection – elements teetering on the verge of intersection. These drawings explore experiences of inhabiting a space or a feeling - moving between moments of stillness and arrival to those of change and rupture.

They consider the ‘in between’ and try to capture the soft edges of slipping from one state or place into another. Her drawn works negotiate both a sense of harmony and also conflict between forms, with flooded areas of blocked colour teased by stuttering edges and lines.

Original art is non-returnable.

About Halima Akhtar

Halima Akhtar is a multidisciplinary artist based in London working between processes of drawing and sculptural experimentation, often with a blurring of boundaries between the two. Across the varying forms of her work there is a central exploration upon the nature of transitory experiences and the act of inhabiting or moving through a space. At times the abstracted responses seen in her drawings are reflective of physical spaces and landscapes, whilst also tipping into the weightless spaces that we often find ourselves in between waking and sleeping.
