Limited edition print series exclusively for IWD with Glassette.

‘Having moved house recently, I've been going through lots of memory boxes rediscovering old photographs, artworks and bits of writing on paper from my early childhood. Now as an adult I could see just how much my sister and I meant to my mother, the three of us were a small and happy world. It was the kind of belonging she had always wanted. This IWD I am thinking of my mother, the brave and resilient woman she was, and just how much she loved us.’

Ruby Bateman is a visual artist, working between Hackney (London) and the South West countryside. Often her work investigates her personal and political identification with 'the mother' and (institutionalised) motherhood, which love and loss has led her to desire. Using a richly colourful and symbolic visual language, she references classicism, the spiritual, and her own fiction. Ruby is fascinated with the alchemic and transformative power of the artist, and how the creative process allows her to connect to a deeper material and maternal consciousness.
