Regular price

'Islay' is a unique abstract screen print by London based artist & designer Jonathan Lawes.

Inspired by the islands of the inner Hebrides off the coast of Scotland, Jonathan's clever interplay of shape and colour is developed over time with individual layers, eventually emerging with a final composition.

Printed on to 0.9mm Finnboard (beige wood pulp paper board) and presented in a hand-painted oak frame with glass. The print is numbered 1/1 and is signed by the artist himself in the bottom right corner.

Design size is A5 (148 x 210mm) while the frame is A4 (210x297mm)

Original art is non-returnable.

About Jonathan Lawes

Jonathan Lawes is an artist and printmaker based in south east London. After graduating from Leeds Arts University with a Bachelor of Arts in Printed Textiles & Surface Pattern Design, Jonathan moved abroad and spent the best part of a decade living in Berlin, before relocating back to the UK in 2018.

Jonathan creates prints with a distinctly graphic edge, reflecting his love of geometry, shape, and pattern. He has a keen eye for nuance and layering, paying close attention to colour and detail. Working in a loose and organic way, abstract compositions are formed and ultimately develop due to his genuine enthusiasm for, and evolution of, the printing process.
