Hand-thrown dinner plate in a local flecked stoneware from Derbyshire and glazed in our simple tin white glaze, which is a warm off-white with subtle iron speckle showing through from the clay body. There is something extremely pleasurable about eating from a hand-thrown plate.

This piece has been carefully hand-thrown, trimmed and fired in our electric kiln.

We make each piece by hand in our Sheffield studio. There may be slight variation in the dimensions specified in this listing and also variation in the glaze.

About Pottery West

Pottery West is the Sheffield-based ceramics studio of Catherine and Matt West. Using traditional methods of making, Pottery West specialises in creating simple, functional tableware with rich and intricate glazes. The process of making wheel-thrown tableware is relatively slow-paced and repetitive and in these processes they find a sense of space and calm, a feeling of which they hope translates into the finished pieces.
